  Salt Water

The cure for anything is salt water -
sweat, tears, or the sea. ~Isak Dinesen

They who by their destiny would be lovers
Are advised a course of salt water -

Her hand, finding his;
Darkened beach, jeweled velvet sky.
Entering the ocean -
Gently floating.

His arms, holding her close;
Darkened room, heavy with scent.
Entering each other -
Gently sweating.

Their lives, compelled apart;
Darkened world, as the end of everything.
Entering separate voids -
Gently crying.

Delilah, March 24, 1998
