  Nothing Without Joy

Confidence, trust more difficult
Than love, blooming wild, without effort...
Or joy, shining from you...
Surrounding me (who loves you,
belongs to you, with you. Your darling.)

We make our plans
In the softness of certainty,
In the cushion of thousands of words,
In kisses uncounted (too sweet
to number, those. My darling.)

We walk our worlds
Apart and wanting...
Longing for one moment,
All sweat and nerves (and trembling
Hands and lips, to finally touch. Darling.)
